Mimpi bagi sebagian orang mungkin hanya berupa angan-angan atau hanya bunga tidur saja. Namun di film MERAIH MIMPI ini kita diajarkan untuk tidak takut bermimpi dan mengejarnya hingga menjadi nyata.
Kisah dibuka dengan kehidupan Dana (Gita Gutawa) dan adiknya, Rai (Patton Idola Cilik) di kampung yang didominasi oleh kekuasaan tuan tanah, Pairot (Surya Saputra). Pairot selalu membebani warga kampung, termasuk keluarga Dana dengan pajak tanah yang sangat tinggi.

Tanpa banyak yang tahu, Pairot sendiri telah memiliki rencana jahat. Setelah memberi beban pajak yang tinggi, ia bakal mengusir seluruh warga dari kampung. Pairot bermaksud membangun hotel dan kasino.
Dana sadar keluarganya mengalami kesulitan keuangan. Maka ketika ada kesempatan memperoleh beasiswa lewat sebuah kompetisi dari sekolahnya, ia tidak menyia-nyiakannya. Karena ia sadar ini adalah satu-satunya kesempatan berjuang melawan ketidakadilan sang tuan tanah.

Film animasi musikal yang diproduseri oleh Nia Dinata ini sejatinya merupakan karya adaptasi dari novel SING TO THE DAWN karya Minfong Ho asal Singapura. Sebelum ditayangkan di Indonesia, film yang diproduksi oleh Infinite Frameworks (IFW), studio animasi yang berpusat di Batam, telah dilepas di luar negeri.

Proses pembuatannya sendiri cukup memakan waktu, yakni selama tiga tahun. Yang membanggakan meski film ini kerja sama dua negara, Indonesia dan Singapura, 95% yang mengerjakan film ini animator asli Indonesia. Ini membuktikan karya-karya seniman Indonesia mampu bersaing di dunia seni Internasional.
Para dubber yang di-casting oleh Kalyana Shira Films milik Nia Dinata terdiri dari nama-nama yang sudah tidak asing lagi. Sebut saja, Gita Gutawa, Patton Idola Cilik, Uli Herdinansyah, Surya Saputra, Shanty, Cut Mini, Indra Bekti, Ria Irawan dan Jajang C Noer.

Pemasangan Gita sebagai dubber utama juga dirasa tepat. Karena ini film animasi musikal, maka kita juga dimanjakan dengan suara Gita yang cukup khas. Film yang sarat dengan pesan moral ini juga menyisipkan bagaimana generasi-generasi muda kita untuk lebih mencintai lingkungan.

Selain inti cerita yang mengajarkan tidak takut bermimpi. Jika dijalani dengan konsisten, apapun impian itu, suatu hari akan menjadi nyata.
MERAIH MIMPI yang diputar serentak pada 16 September mendatang, sepertinya memang film yang ditawarkan saat liburan Lebaran tiba. Momen ini dirasakan tepat, sehingga film ini dapat ditonton oleh seluruh keluarga.

LONDON – Prince Harry has turned 25, making the eligible bachelor entitled to part of his inheritance from his mother, Princess Diana.
The prince, the younger son of Prince Charles and the late Diana, was spending his birthday by continuing his pilot training in the Royal Air Force on Monday.
Harry and his brother Prince William were left equal shares of their mother's estate following her death in a car crash in Paris in 1997.
With inheritance tax deducted, the estate was valued at nearly 13 million pounds 12 years ago, but its present value has not been disclosed. In today's currency markets, that would be worth nearly $22 million.
Under the will, the princes are entitled to all the income from their part of the estate when they are 25.
They gain access to the capital at age 30. William is 27.

 Air Terjun Yang Berdarah

Inilah salah satu fenomena alam yang langka terjadi, bagaimana tidak dari sebuah sumber air yang mengalir pada sebuah air terjun bisa terdapat aliran darah yang mengalir terus menerus namun agak lambat. Hal ini terjadi di sebuah Gletser di Antartika tepatnya di lembahMc Murdo wilayah kutub selatan. 

Pertama kali seorang geolog menemukan air terjun beku tahun 1911 dan mereka menemui hal aneh yang mereka kira adalah warna merah yang mengalir merupakan warna yang berasal dari ganggang merah, namun sifta sejatinya ternyata lebih dari yang mereka duga.

Fenomena Alam yang sangat aneh dan langka, sebuah air terjun mengeluarkan semacam darah terus menerus.

Kira-kira 2 juta tahun yang lalu Gletser Taylor terkurung dibawah aliran air yang mengandung kumpulan mikroba kuno, dan mereka terisolasi disana dibawah lapisan es yang sangat tebal secara alami, berkembang secara independen mikroba ini hidup tanpa cahaya, panas dan oksigen, dan disana mereka terperangkap pada suatu kondisi salinitas yang sangat tinggi dan kaya akan zat besi sehingga memberikan warna yang merah sama dengan zat besi dalam darah.

Para Ilmuwan memperkirakan cairan seperti darah ini berasal dari mikroba kuno yang terperangkap di dalam celah es.

Dan Air terjun ini terjadi karena adanya sebuah celah dari gletser tersebut yang memungkinkan air subglacial tersebut keluar, membentuk air terjun tanpa mencemari ekosistem didalamnya. Para ilmuwanpun akhirnya menduga dari kesimpulan tersebut bisa sangat mungkin terjadi juga di planet planet lain seperti Mars dan Yupiter, Air terjun berdarah ini benar benar suatu fenomena alam yang ajaib baik secara visual maupun ilmiah.

364 Pasangan Menikah di 090909

Sebanyak 364 pasangan di Singapura telah mendaftarkan diri untuk menikah Rabu, atau 9/9-2009, yang dipandang sebagai hari yang keberuntungan untuk mengikat tali pernikahan.

Menurut kantor Pendaftaran Perkawinan Singapura (ROM), jumlah itu jauh lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan angka rata-rata pernikahan harian, 64 pasang, pada hari normal, demikian laporan media setempat, Strait Times, di laman Internetnya.


Tanggal 09/09/09 dinyatakan sebagai "jiu jiu jiu" dalam bahasa Mandarin, yang melipat-tigakan "lamanya" suatu perkawinan, karena angka sembilan merupakan kualitas yang langgeng di dalam budaya China.
Catatan banyak pasangan menikah dalam beberapa tahun belakangan ialah 766 perkawinan pada 7 Juli 2007.

Selain itu, meskipun masih terpaut satu tahun lagi, satu lagi tanggal dengan tiga angka sama sedang dicari.
Tanggal tersebut, 10 Oktober 2010, yang jatuh pada hari Ahad, menjadi perhatian banyak pasangan Singapura yang mencari tanggal khusus untuk mengikat tali perkawinan.

Strait Times melaporkan banyak hotel setempat sudah mengkonfirmasi lebih banyak pesanan pesta perkawinan pada 10 Oktober 2010 dibandingkan dengan tanggal biasa.

Shangri-La Hotel menyatakan hotel itu telah menerima banyak pesanan untuk tanggal tersebut. "Kami sangat optimistis mengenai pentingnya tanggal tahun depan ini karena sudah banyak pesanan ruangan untuk 10 Oktober 2010," kata jurubicara hotel.

John William Waterhouse - A Biography of Unique British Painter

 

John William Waterhouse

                                                                   

Painter of classical, historical, and literary subjects. John William Waterhouse was born in 1849 in Rome, where his father worked as a painter. He was referred to as "Nino" throughout his life.

In the 1850s the family returned to England. Before entering the Royal Academy schools in 1870, Waterhouse assisted his father in his studio. His early works were of classical themes in the spirit of Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema and Frederic Leighton, and were exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Society of British Artists and the Dudley Gallery. In the late 1870s and the 1880s, Waterhouse made several trips to Italy, where he painted genre scenes.
After his marriage in 1883 to Esther Kenworthy, Waterhouse took up residence at the Primrose Hill Studios (number 3, and later, number 6). 

Future occupants of the same Primrose Hill studios would include the artists Arthur Rackham and Patrick Caulfield. Waterhouse painted primarily in oils, yet he was elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour in 1883, resigning in 1889. In 1884, his Royal Academy submission Consulting the Oracle brought him favourable reviews; it was purchased by Sir Henry Tate, who also purchased The Lady of Shalott from the 1888 Academy exhibition. The latter painting reveals Waterhouse's growing interest in themes associated with the Pre-Raphaelites, particularly tragic or powerful femmes fatales, as well as plein-air painting.

Other examples of paintings depicting a femme fatale are Circe Invidiosa, Cleopatra, La Belle Dame Sans Merci and several versions of Lamia. In 1885 Waterhouse was elected an associate of the Royal Academy and a full member in 1895. His RA diploma work was A Mermaid. However, as this painting was not completed until 1900, Waterhouse offered his Ophelia of 1888 as his temporary submission (this painting was 'lost' for most of the 20th century--it is now in the collection of Lord Lloyd Webber).

In the mid-1880s Waterhouse began exhibiting with the Grosvenor Gallery and its successor, the New Gallery, as well as at provincial exhibitions in Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester. Paintings of this period, such as Mariamne, were exhibited widely in England and abroad as part of the international symbolist movement. In the 1890s Waterhouse began to exhibit portraits. In 1900 he was the primary instigator of the Artists' War Fund, creating Destiny, and contributing to a theatrical performance. The pictures offered to the War Fund were auctioned at Christie's. In 1901 he moved to St John's Wood and joined the St John's Wood Arts Club, a social organization that included Alma-Tadema and George Clausen. He also served on the advisory council of the St. John's Wood Art School where young and upcoming "neo Pre-Raphaelite" artists such as Byam Shaw numbered amongst his pupils.

Despite suffering from increasing frailty during the final decade of his life, Waterhouse continued painting until his death from cancer in 1917. From 1908-1914 he painted a series of paintings based upon the Persephone legend. They were followed by pictures based upon literature and mythology in 1916 (Miranda, Tristram and Isolde). One of his final works was The Enchanted Garden, left unfinished on his easel at his death, and now in the collection of the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Liverpool.

Very little is known of Waterhouse's private life - only a few letters have survived and thus, for many years, the identity of his models has been a mystery. One letter that has survived indicates that Mary Lloyd, the model for Lord Leighton's masterpiece Flaming June, posed for Waterhouse. The well-known Italian male model, Angelo Colorossi, who sat for Leighton, Millais, Sargent, Watts, Burne-Jones and many other Victorian artists, also sat for Waterhouse.

Waterhouse and his wife Esther did not have any children. Esther Waterhouse outlived her husband by 27 years, passing away in 1944 at a nursing home. Today, she is buried alongside her husband at Kensal Green Cemetery in north London. Waterhouse's great-nephew, Dr John Physick, has carried the Waterhouse torch into the 21st century and has shared some of his memories of his family on this website.

"A magic circle was cast to purify and create a perimeter of space wherein evil magic could not enter. Goddesses and good spirits were invited into the circle, which sometimes had powerful, protective stones placed at North, South, East, and West points. Each point was associated with the Four Elements. North was the most powerful direction. It represented the element of Earth, the celestial bodies revolving around the North Star, and encompassed all secrets, darkness, and the unknown. South was the element of Fire and therefore associated with the sun. This point signified the meeting of East and West - intuition, insight, reason, and logic - and the channeling of the powers of intellect, clairvoyance, and nature. East was the direction for the element of Air, symbolizing clarity, spiritual awareness, and mysticism. West represented imagination and inspiration, as well as emotions and reason. The circle itself was a mark of infinity and eternity.
A witch would cast a magic circle by turning clockwise, beginning at East, following the revolution of the sun. The magic circle was drawn with either a a magic wand or an anthame (a black-handled ceremonial dagger). A charm or spell was recited as the witch cast the circle, asking the presence of friendly or helpful spirits to attend."

Kamus Komputer - Edisi 2 (Motherboard)

Hai Hai, Kali ini saya coba tuliskan beberapa definisi dari istilah komputer tentang motherboard.. yuukk.. ;)

 

Motherboard

Chipset

Chips atau chipset merupakan potongan-potongan kecil silikon yang digunakan untuk menyimpan informasi dan instruksi komputer.
Setiap komponen komputer memiliki paling tidak sebuah chips didalamnya. Chipset pada motherboard mengatur masukan dan keluaran (input dan output) yang mendasar dari komputer.
Chipset pada video card mengatur rendering dari grafik 3D dan output dari gambar pada monitor anda. CPU merupakan salah satu contoh chips yang sangat penting.
Chipset motherboard, misalnya BX, i810, i820, dan banyak lagi lainnya.

FSB (Front Side Bus)

Pada microprocessor, FSB menghubungkan processor dengan memory utama. Dan juga digunakan untuk mengomunikasikan antara processor dengan komponen lainnya yang ada di motherboard.

HSF (Heat Sink Fan)

Sebuah komponen CPU yang dipakai untuk menyerap panas. Biasanya terbuat dari alumunium. Pemakaian fan sebagai penyerap suhu ini akan meningkatkan performa kerja komputer.

IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics)

Sebuah tipe hardware interface yang berfungsi untuk menghubungkan harddisk, CDROM, dan drive tape pada sebuah PC. IDE sangat popular dan banyak digunakan karena menyediakan cara yang terhitung ekonomis untuk menghubungkan komponen-komponen hardware.

IDE Controller

Salah satu fungsi yang dimiliki chipset pada motherboard, untuk mengatur komunikasi data pada harddisk, CDROM, dan sebagainya serta managementnya.

LGA775

Memiliki kepanjangan Land Grid Array, adalah jenis socket yang digunakan CPU khususnya intel, dimana kini pin berada di socket, bukannya di processor lagi. Sedangkan angka 775 menunjukkan banyaknya kaki-kaki pin processor.

MicroATX

Salah satu jenis ukuran /dimensi dari motherboard atau juga casing untuk menempatkan motherboard.

Tulisan ini berisi definisi dari istilah-istilah di dunia komputer yang seringkali kita dengar, namun, jujur, kita kurang paham apa arti dari istilah tersebut. 

Oleh sebab itulah, tulisan ini saya lampirkan pada blog.

Standar wireless network dengan maximum data tranfer rate 54 Mbps dan bekerja pada frekuensi 5 GHz.

802.11b

Standar wireless network dengan maximum data tranfer rate 11 Mbps dan bekerja pada frekuensi 2.4 GHz.

802.11g

Standar wireless network dengan maximum tranfer rate 54 Mbps (typical 200 Mbps) pada frekuensi 2.4 GHz.

802.11n

Standar wireless network dengan maximum data transfer rate 600 Mbps dan bekerja pada frekuensi 2.4 GHz atau 5 GHz.

Access Point

Suatu alat yang memungkinkan komputer berperangkat wireless dan alat-alat lainnya untuk berkomunikasi via jaringan berkabel. Ini juga digunakan untuk memperluas jangkauan jaringan nirkabel.

Channel

Di dunia komunikasi, channel merujuk kepada media yang digunakan untuk membawa informasi dari si pengirim (tranmitter) ke penerima (receiver).

Ethernet

Suatu protokol Local Area Network (LAN) yang dikembangakn Xerox Corporation bersama dengan DEC an intel pada sekitar tahun 1976.

Herdict, Ungkap Pemblokir Situs

Para ilmuwan dari Harvard berhasil membuat situs untuk mencari aksi pemblokiran internet yang terjadi di belahan dunia manapun, Situs dengan nama Herdict.org ini ternyata telah membuktikan keampuhannya saat terjadi beberapa kali pemblokiran internet di China.
Kala itu, lebih dari seratus pengguna internet di China menggunakan Herdict untuk mengetahui situs apa saja yang saat itu sedang diblokir oleh pemerintah China.
Herdict sendiri merupakan singkatan dari : "Verdict Of The Herd", dan saat ini telah menyebar di kalangan pengguna internet di seratus empat puluh negara.Situs ini memiliki versi bahasa Arab dan China dengan pengunjung terbanyak berasal dari Iran, China, Amerika. Herdict tidak hanya merekam jejak situs yang di sensor di dunia, tapi juga memberikan layanan pemberitaan langsung ke email pengguna Internet  sepanjang adanya aksi pemblokiran.

Koobface Kembali Menyerang Twitter

Symantec Security Response baru-baru ini mengamati adanya varian baru worm W32.koobface yang ditemukan kali pertama pada Agustus 2008.
Varian baru ini terdeteksi  sebagai W.32Koobface.C, dan sekarang kemabli muncul melalui Twitter.
Worm ini bekerja dengan cara membajak akun di situs mikro blogging itu.
Pengguna yang telah terinfeksi akan mengirimkan tweet untuk menginfeksi para pengikut di Twitter pengguna. Ketika pengguna yang terinfeksi logon ke Twitter, Koobface akan membajak sesi ini dan mengirimkan tweet ke akun pengguna. Tweet tersebut antara lain berisi pesan: "My Home Video", "Watch My New Private Video! LOL", serta "Michael Jackson testament on youtube". Pengguna yang mengklik link tersebut akan secara langsung diarahkan pada situs video palsu, yang akan mendorong pengguna untuk mendownload codec.
